Follow the Moon: Forecast for April 8, 2018 - April 14

Possibly you’ve felt it the last three weeks. Gloomy. That’s a good word for it. This lunar cycle has been a little gloomy. It started at the New Moon of March 17, which was positioned on the threshold between Pisces and Aries. This threshold feels like not really being anywhere. The Pisces season is about shedding the past. The Aries season is about leaping forward. And we haven’t been able to do much of either, really. One reason is a Mercury retrograde period that started on March 22 and that will end on April 15 at the next New Moon. Another gloomy influence has been a conjunction of Mars and Saturn in Capricorn. Mars feels more comfortable in Aries territory, moving quickly forward, but Saturn has been slowing our impulses. There isn’t much mojo to keep us going. Mercury has been squaring these two and we’ve been stuck in a loop of self-judgement. The benefit from this slow and somewhat gloomy process is that we have the opportunity to reframe how we get affirmation and how to keep moving even when in doubt.

Not everything about this lunar cycle has been difficult. In fact, Venus’ transit through Taurus has brought a refresher in sensual delight. Pleasure is definitely an antidote for despair these days. This is not the kind of pleasure that feels escapist, either. Venus in Taurus reminds us that we are bodies. Recent self-judgements feel disembodied, not connected to internal wisdoms. Our bodies can help us know this is all part of the process. Spring—the Aries-style leaping boldly into the unknown type of Spring—is still coming. It’s coming, but we remain in process the final week of this lunar cycle. The next lunar cycle, which begins in Aries helps us shift out of lethargic gloom.

This last week of the lunar cycle isn’t all gloom. It contains a lot of gems. Positivity returns, even if we aren’t dashing forward quickly yet. That might even be a good thing. Speed is overrated. Venus in Taurus gives Mars in Capricorn a boost this week. These two planets represent pleasure and desire. A trine aspect represents an elemental harmony. The element is earth. Notice how this tangible element impacts your mood. Touch opens new pathways. We crave something real to do with our hands. We’re thinking about our physical surroundings and material supports. Neptune In Pisces joins the lovefest between Venus and Mars. Neptune makes things shinier. There’s a danger, perhaps, of infatuation or unrealistic glamorization of a person or thing, but the benefits outweigh these concerns. The benefits include heart-opening connection to the Earth and inspiration in work and pleasure.

Forecast for April 8, 2018 - April 14

Moon in Capricorn
April 8—Last Quarter Moon: Re-seeding. This lunar cycle has moved sluggishly to this place of discernment. The pace of insight is important to notice. It is one of the lessons of this Mercury retrograde journey. Not everything comes quickly. Speed does not equal success. What has worked and not worked about your life in recent weeks? The Moon in Capricorn is revealing something important. Capricorn means business, and the desire to excel is strong, but what else is important? If we can’t be perfect. If we aren’t moving as fast as we think we should, then how do we discern the value of our efforts? We are learning new ways to see our work. Perhaps we are learning new ways to trust in our work. Under this phase of the Moon, we gravitate towards seeing things critically. It is important to be honest with ourselves without resorting to beating ourselves up over the ways we may not have met our expectations. The pace of this process can feel excruciating at times. And that too, is an important ingredient. The Moon’s contact with Pluto today enhances what we can learn from being with what is present. Be gentle with yourself.

Moon enters Aquarius 1:50 am CDT
Monday, April 9.
Detachment is a survival strategy at times. You might notice the power of detachment today. The Aquarius Moon encourages a detached observation of life. We aren’t quite as engaged emotionally as we have been the last few days. We get a breather from this air sign. This is a chance to see things from a different perspective. What are you noticing from this vantage point?

Moon in Aquarius
Tuesday, April 10. Passion is released today. Anger might be part of the process. The Aries Sun makes a square aspect to Pluto in Capricorn. This could look like a confrontation with power. We have little patience for the abuse of power. We also have little patience for those who have unearned influence. We expect more from our leaders and question whether we even need them at all. Do you hold power or authority in some realm of your life? How do you keep your values intact? What is important to you about leadership? As the Moon makes a square to Jupiter in Scorpio the desire to reveal secrets informs the choices we make and ways we are held accountable.

Moon enters Pisces 1:40 pm CDT
Wednesday, April 11.
Get out of your head. Venus in Taurus makes a harmonious connection with Mars in Capricorn. Both are earth signs. These lovers want to take charge of this day. They invite you to move with presence, to savor each moment, to allow this embodiment to inform you about your work, your goals, your values. Lay down a solid foundation. It might be around a health regime, a daily practice, or an attitude adjustment. Another astrological influence complicates the day. Venus and Mars may want to keep things simple, the Sun in Aries and Jupiter in Scorpio do not. The relationship between the Sun and Jupiter creates the kind of tension that can lead to enlightenment or breakthrough. Your deepest truth or secret becomes the motivating force to make a bold move. Perhaps you need to claim identity. Perhaps you need to tell your truth even when it feels risky. Remember as you go to your own edge, that Venus and Mars want you to be in your body too. Live your life true to yourself, body and soul.

Moon in Pisces
April 12—Balsamic Moon: Composting. With this phase and sign of the Moon, we return to seed potential of this lunar cycle that began on the threshold between Pisces and Aries. Perhaps this is the most unconscious of places in the entire zodiac. We have been suspended in the moment before birth—no longer who we were and not yet who we will become. This moment is actually available at all times when we let go of attachments and ease the hold our egos have on us. Perhaps this is pure presence. Perhaps it is grace. Astrological influences today encourage both presence and grace. Even when we’ve been around many wheels of the year, we have an opportunity right now to feel as if we are brand new. Venus in Taurus makes a lovely connection to Neptune in Pisces. We are prone to spiritual states connected to our experiences of pleasure. We feel the solid support of the Earth as we release into connection. If we are in the gestational womb at this time, then this influence feels like being flooded with bliss as we inhabit of state of contentment. Other planetary allies support us. Saturn reveals the integrity within us. Mars commits to grounded action. Perhaps there is a reason for the experiences of this lunar cycle, even if it is about letting them go and remembering our true natures.

Moon enters Aries 10:25 pm CDT
Friday, April 13.
This is what it feels like, the threshold between Pisces and Aries. We are a little bit sleepy, operating on automatic pilot. Concrete things are hard to grasp. We want to spend a little more time remembering that great dream we just had. But there are things to do. That urgency builds but doesn’t really kick in until tomorrow when the Moon is fully into Aries. Right now, be aware that Mercury in Aries is preparing to station direct in a couple of days. This can be a period when we really need to find a bit more patience and have a bit more faith that things will work out. Good job for making it this far.

Moon in Aries
Saturday, April 14.
We connect back to what we were feeling in January today under the influence of Jupiter in Scorpio, which is making an encouraging sextile to Pluto in Capricorn. January was the first pass for this transit. Today is the second. The final time will be in September. These planets give us the will and energy to transform the things that have been held in the darkness for too long—injustices, traumas, oppressions, ways we can’t claim power, ways that power has been a toxic part of our lives. What is released is life force and energy. You may have been feeling lethargic or overly self-critical lately. This aspect, occurring on the last day of this lunar cycle, is here to change all that. Notice where you get your surge of power. Notice what or who is supportive of that. Perhaps it is time to make changes based on what you are learning. Another influence today encourages trusting our intuition. Mars in Capricorn forms a sextile to Neptune in Pisces. Does it feel right? Are you feeling strong inspiration? The next lunar cycle, beginning tomorrow, says take that leap of faith. Life is calling you to emerge.
