Follow the Moon: Forecast for December 26, 2017—December 31

Forecast for December 26, 2017—December 31.

Moon in Aries
December 26—First Quarter Moon: Sprouting. The hidden seeds have trembled, split open, created root networks, and now emerge into the forward momentum of this lunar cycle. The Aries Moon takes that momentum and moves it even further along. Here is the advice I am giving my future self: try to stay receptive, try to stay open, try to receive rather than take what is before you. This is good practice for staying present. By staying with it, and this includes being present to the darkness of winter for those of us living in the northern hemisphere, the rooted connections we’ve been developing can offer strength and resiliency. We are not turning away and we are not caving in. If so, then under this Aries Moon, I rise, not because I am heroic, I rise because I am connected. The Moon empowers insight and communication from the newly-direct Mercury in Sagittarius. We are ready to begin reporting on what we learned from the past Mercury retrograde period. Notice the shift from interior awareness to exterior awareness. Build pathways that let you travel between.

Moon in Aries
Wednesday, December 27.
The Moon in Aries continues to stir the pot. What may have felt deadened or dull before reignites. The main motivator may be anger. The square between the Moon and Pluto in Capricorn ignites anger about injustices and corrupt power. The conjunction between the Moon and Uranus ignites anger about passivity. Can anger be sacred? How do we ensure our anger is in service to life? Take action. Live your passion.

Moon enters Taurus 12:23 am CST
Thursday, December 28.
If yesterday’s transits ignited anger then today’s transits inspire us to use that raw energy to protect what we hold dear. The Moon in Taurus feels what is at stake. It is the Earth. It is the children. It is beauty. A trine between Mars in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces allows us to feel the pain of all that vulnerability, while not pushing it away or trying to put a meaningless band-aid on it. Emotion might come in a torrent, but the Taurus Moon creates the container to channel the flow into productivity and renewal. The Moon makes a trine aspect to Saturn, Venus, and the Sun in Capricorn. Perhaps for the first time in this lunar cycle, we feel we have the resources to enter the work of the next year. Passion, vulnerability, and presence are keys.

Moon in Taurus
December 29—Gibbous Moon: Budding. “Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable.” - Brene´ Brown

We don’t need to conquer any parts of ourselves. We don’t need to banish any either. The New Year is coming up and you might be feeling that urge to conquer or banish a part of yourself. Resist! What if we took this energy for change and channeled it into embracing ourselves instead? What if we spoke the unspeakable about our self-doubts and the ways we are simply amazing? What if we touched our scars and blessed them? What if we risked simply being who we are? Owning our stories is a powerful way to subvert oppression within and without. We get to belong to each other when we risk this kind of truth. The Moon in Taurus, opposing Jupiter in Scorpio and making a trine to Pluto in Capricorn, invites us to look at all our parts and own them. I’ve been diving deeper into this vulnerability and I know it is not easy to break the rules of self-denial. It isn’t easy to admit imperfection. It can feel devastating to let go of fantasy and see things as they are. Yet, it feels aligned with the Capricorn work of this lunar cycle. Bless the work of belonging.

Moon enters Gemini 2:31 am CST
Saturday, December 30.
Words come pouring out. The Moon enters Gemini and is feels like there is so much to say about recent travels deep into our shadows. Be tender with yourself. Don’t jump too abruptly into the mental spaces of explanation. Let’s not make this a tidy journey to file away. Let these words be poetry. Let these ideas be seeds.

Moon in Gemini
Sunday, December 31.
Tomorrow is a Full Moon, tonight we say good-bye to 2017. A difficult year, yes? The Moon is in social Gemini. This sounds like the perfect night to dance away our cares. Connect and be surprised by meeting others in this vulnerable opening. That could change everything.
